Q: old apple cinema display with 2009 macbook?
Hi, I have a 2009 unibody macbook and I'm looking into getting an older apple cinema display (A1081).
I know I can get an adapter for the mini displayport to DVI, but I noticed that the connector cord on the display has a firewire lead as well as a USB one.
My machine does not have a firewire port. Does this display require one? Anyone used this sort of setup?

No, the display does not require one. I believe the display can be used as a Firewire Hub. MiniDisplayPort to DVI will be enough
