At first, after installing and running Lion, my iTunes was working as it should, but then one day the Devices dissappeared from the Playlist area, so I had to reinstall iTunes. Now, the iTunesHelper is missing and when I plug in a device such as an iPhone or iPad, iTunes does not open automatically like it should. I cannot find iTunesHelper on my computer although when I open Activity Monitor, it is listed as running. Any suggestions?
Mac OS X (10.7)
1. open up applications, and right click the itunes icon.
2. select 'show package contents'
3. open the contents folder
4. open the resources folder
5. scroll down until you find the ItunesHelper icon.
6. Now open up your system preferences.
7. select accounts
8. select login items
9. now drag the ItunesHelper icon into the login items screen
10. This will now put the ituneshelper app into the startup items.

That is correct
I did what you suggested but there is no ItunesHelper icon listed in the Resources. I tried to include a screenshot but it won't let me upload the picture.
Just looked under another folder (Mac OS) and found iTunesHelper.app. Seems to work now. Thanks!
