Yes, by syncing your iPad with the supported calendar app on your computer - the same calendar app on your computer you are syncing your 3GS calendar with.
Maybe my problem is that I am NOT syncing my iPhone calendar to a calendar on my PC. Just backing it up when I sync my iPhone. I'd like to just sync the two devices and not use the PC. If I have you use a calendar app - do you have a suggestion? I appreciate your input! Thanks!
Not possible to sync the devices directly with one another. You need to sync each device direct with a supported calendar app on your computer via the iTunes sync process, or do this over the air with each device with an email account such as a Gmail account accessed as an Exchange account with each device.
Perhaps iCloud will resolve your issue.
WalleWalle below is right: If you're patient for the release of iCloud some time this fall, that should handle your needs.
In the meanwhile, a MobileMe account (which you can't get anymore if you don't already have one) or a Gmail account will do the trick. Exchange will also work, but you'd already know that if you had it available.
Until iCloud is available, I'd recommend getting a free Google Mail (Gmail) account and enabling it for Mail and Calendars. Both your iPhone and your iPad will sync with it automatically.
As an alternative, look at the free Wunderlist, which you can access on your iOS devices with a dedicated app, on the web, and even on a Mac app from the Mac App Store. The apps and service are free, and it's had great reviews. Strictly speaking, it's a to-do app, but it has decent "calendar" functions.
