If it created a recovery partition, you would be able to boot to that with command-R

If not.... that is what backups and cloning are for.

And it is always good to have bootable backups (clone) before beginning.

Installing Lion to another drive is always an option too.

OS X Lion Install to Different Drive

OS X Lion: Unable to download OS X Lion wireless...

OS X Lion: Installer reports "This disk cannot be used to start up your computer"

Select your Macintosh HD. Press COMMAND-I to open the Get Info window. At the bottom is a section labeled Permissions and Sharing. The privileges associated with the drive will be listed and should be:

Owner=system with r/w privileges

Group=wheel with r/o privileges

Everyone with r/o privileges

Report what you find for your drive, please.

Just click the apple icon and resart disc. Once your desktop is back up run a softwear up date. Lion will take you to where you are now if this is not done. Then restart installing Lion it is that simple as i just found out sorting my girlfrinds Macbook. Now off to vent my anger at people tell others to make new 2nd hard discs and cos theres ard damaged ahhhh
