Memory Card placed into DVD Slot

I am reposting this since I have gotten no responses. I know it was really stupid of me to do this but I"d really like to use the DVD slot. Thanks.

I placed a memory card into my DVD/ CD space on my mac. It's now stuck in there. I can't place a CD or DVD into the space. I searched the net and tried the solutions they suggested but nothing works (including using a cardboard slip, restarting holding the eject and/ or mouse down). Any suggestions on getting it out? Thanks.

Thanks. I was able to get the memory card out of the slot, but I guess I was too forceful. Now when I insert a CD, it ejects it. I imagine replacing the slot will be expensive and will require a trip to the Apple Store.

Do the sell USB CD/ DVD players I can connect? I also have a laptop, can I somehow connect that to my desktop and use its slot?

I posted the following in the iLife/ iPhoto discussion group and have received no responses. Since it relates to this subject, I was hoping someone here may help me out. Thank you.

My DVD Drive on my desktop doesn't work (I got something stuck in it and upon trying to remove it, I mangled the drive). I am trying to use my laptop's drive to install iLife 11. It doesn't appear to working although the two Macs are seeing each other and Sharing DVD drive is turned on. I assume that the DVD is protected so it will not share.

Can I insall iLife's 11 programs on my laptop (previousversions are on it) and then move the whole program over without losig any info or tracks/ photos (especially keywords)?

Is there any other solution? Thanks!

Someone can correct me but I don't think your plan will work because more stuff is installed than just the application. It would be hard to find out what goes where, but maybe it can be done. You could try one of the apps and see if it runs (maybe it will put things where they belong upon first launch).

Seems like a better approach is finding out why DVD Sharing won't work. Try this page http://support.apple.com/kb/TS2057
