power issues then external drive won't connect
iMac had issues with power strip which was replaced. External drive used for backups won't play nice with the iMac. Wants to have a restart done, which fixes nothing.

Disconnect the HDs, Zap the PRAM and Reset the SMC, and reconnect the HDs.
