MacBook Air 2011 sleep resume issues

It looks like it is a problem with Lion specifically, since 2010 Airs are experiencing this after the update to Lion, but I just bought my 13" 256Gb Air and I am rather disappointed to see it not resume - ever - from a sleep of even just a few seconds, and even crash randomly. I also noticed that if you set a Hot Corner to put to sleep the computer, it also does not resume at all. Screen just goes black as many have seen and basically you must reboot the computer most times - occasionallty it comes back, reluctantly, and asking for passwords. It is quite random and annoying.

I am really considering returning it. It is my first Apple pc and I will say I am rather disappointed. Lion has had issues from day 1 it seems, but this issue with resume is quite ridiculous. The computer came with it and I didn't attach even any devices to it other than the iPad and iPhone. I have yet to try connecting it to my HP monitor, but at this point I am ever afraid of doing that. No drivers should be in the way or anything like that therefore...If anyone has a simple explanation as to why this happens and what the solution may be, please do let everyone know.

Thank you!

MacBook Air, Mac OS X (10.7), iPhone 3Gs and iPad 2

Hello, I am not sure if this will solve everyone's problem, but I had he same issue of the no-waking MBA 2011 brand new...I saw a post that now I cannot find with the fix:

it is a setting issue that makes little sense to me, but it worked for me. Apparently the Mackintosh HDD MUST be selected as the Startup Disk in settings - even though it is the ONLY drive you have appearing and to use....I had seen it before I noticed the problem when I first unboxed the MBA the other day, but figured it gave you the option in case u have multiple drives. Nope, you MUST select it No Matter What...:-) Crazy in my opinion and drove me nuts to the point of thinking my MBA was bad. Thank goodness it was just that.

Now on to the next unknown problem...(hope not)!

Cheers guys and hope it helped!

Hi,

same to me, MBA 13" mid 2011. When the Screen is powered of, every two or three times I can´t switch it on again by pressing a key! The Background light is on, I can change volume and brightness. I do have to close the screen an open it again to get the picture back. I checked the start volume option - doesn´t help. Any other tips?? Quite angry, 1500 Euro for a buggy toy 😠

The two fixes I've found, and I've implemented both are:

1. Go to Settings --> Energy Saver --> Uncheck "Automatically reduce brightness..."

2. Go to Settings --> Startup Disk --> click Macintosh HD (even if there's nothing else listed)

I'm still evaluating whether one or both of these are going to help me, but I have the same issues as many of you and am getting very frustrated indeed. I should also note that I have full disk encryption (FDE) enabled and don't know if that's part of the reason behind the issue. Curious if any of you have FDE or any other fancy firewall or security anything installed (like HiddenApp, etc.)?
