Elo Touch Screen and Lion - success, anyone?

I recently purchased a new Mac Mini that was supposed to power our restaurant's new Elo Touch screen computer, the 1529L. Has anyone with a touch screen monitor like this upgraded to Lion, or gotten their drivers to work on Lion? I can't get any touch screen interface to work, despite using their latest Mac drivers for 10.6.

Already tried emailing Elo, but they have notoriously bad Mac tech support. So I'm pretty much out of ideas.

I got the same answer from Elo with the same email and new drivers. Fairly impressive from what I was expecting (little Mac support). The Lion drivers work fairly well. Some issues with restarting from Boot Camp and the touch screen not working, but a quick reinstall fixes that. And that issue doesn't always happen.

So far, works as expected.

Now, if only I could get my point of sale system to work perfectly with Windows 7.....

There is no direct link, as far as I'm aware. But you can email Elo Touch directly, and they will send you a link to a site where you can download it. It was password protected in my case, so I don't know if that was a temporary password or a permanent one. Your best bet is to do what we did, email Elo, and within a business day or two, they will send you a link to download the new drivers.

Good luck!

I well received an email from Elo after directly sending them an email.

They gave me the following link with the new version: http://touch-base.com/downloads/Production/ELO/macosx/Intel/macx.tgz

I installed that version, but it doesn't seem to solve my problems... Touchscreen still doesn't work. But this has probably something to do with the USB to serial adaptor... Any advice?

Which serial adapters are you using (if any)?

We have elo with USB So may be the serial is the issue. The link they sent me was to a secure FTP server and I had a password with a 2 day expiry. The link you have seems to be the current download, I checked the elo website and there is no meantion of lion support on the current downloads.

I understand that the driver we were linked to is in beta for lion but seems to work.

I would contact ELO and see if you can get this, I am in the office in a bit, I will find out the version and let you know if it is the same as the link above.

I am in two minds as to just send out the driver they gave me, I don't know why they have not sent it too you guys too.

Cheers

There is a new Mac driver for Lion available here: http://touch-base.com/downloads/Production/ELO/macosx/Intel/macx.tgz

This driver supports Mac OSX 10.2 through 10.7. It supports multiple monitors and even supports dual-touch on the IntelliTouch Plus products. It supports all Elo technologies except for APR and Projective Capacitive.

Make certain to uninstall all previous versions of the touch driver before installing this driver. If there are any Touch-Base or UPDD icons or shortcuts on the desktop, make sure you remove them before downloading this driver. The downloaded file on your desktop must be named "setup". If it is named "setup1 or setup2 etc.. it will not function correctly. This is explained on the Touch-Base website referred to below:

For help on installing/uninstalling the driver, see this link: http://www.touch-base.com/documentation/MacOSXPlatformNotes.htm

The USB to Serial adapter creates a virtual comport on the Mac and when the driver installs it searches for that virtual port. In your list of controller options in the touch driver setup, you will need to choose "serial smartset" then click on the drop down for the available comports and select the port that was created by the USB to Serial adapter. That is what the driver installs on.
