I started using Lion a couple of days ago. Now, I am trying to download something from the App Store. It automatically started downloading in Launchpad. The problem is, it has been hours and and it doesn't look like it is downloading. I couldn't find a way to view the download progress. In older OS's you could see the progress clearly (how many MBs or KBs of the GB download is finished). How can I see that in Lion?

The status bar in LaunchPad should move as it downloads.
You can also use Activity Monitor, click the "network" tab and see how much data is coming in. Should be a reasonable amount compared to your bandwidth.
Thank you! As it was a free download, I didn't think to look at purchases.
It will be in the Purchased tab so that if you delete the app you can always download it again.

Thank you. Your suggestion answered another question I had.
My Launchpad shows about 3/4" of progress but also has become stalled. No progress. No movement. Nothing. Nadda. Zippo. Zilch.
When I goto Apple's website I can't DL it again because it says "Downloading". But it is not.
Now what?
