Hello,

I am working on my dissertation and was going along just fine with the table of contents in Pages...until I narrowed the margins. Now, the page numbers in the TOC are not in the right position; instead of being on the right side of the page (opposite the heading), they are either 1) below the heading title or 2) two spaces away from the subheading title. I have tried altering the font size to move the page numbers in the TOC onto the same line and have attempted to "tab" the page numbers over, all to no avail. Everything was perfect before I changed the margins, but I can't change them back and have to find a way to make it work (1" on all sides, except the left, which is 1.5").

Any help would be much appreciated!

Cheers,

Shawna

I found a solution after all. I had broken the paper into sections, with the TOC in its own section. I reset the margins to the original 1" on all sides for the whole document, then opened the Inspector and went to "Layout." Then, I increased the left Layout Margin by 0.5" in all sections but the TOC. Finally, I highlighted the entire TOC (where the blue line outlines the whole thing) and went to Format > Text > Increase List Indent Level. It shifted the whole TOC over by one Tab amount, which was 0.5". All is well!

Thought I would share this solution in case anyone else has a similar problem. Best of luck!
