GPS problems

Hi there. I am new in the iPhone family and I have to say that I love it. Recently I have been having a problem with the GPS on my iPhone 3GS. I have a free version if a GPS app and it always says Poor GPS but when I connect it over WIFI, it works 100%.

Is there anyway to fix this problem?
