My ipod has "frozen" and i cant touch anything on it, it just shows the connect to itunes symbol

So i got a new laptop, and havn't used my ipod on it yet. i left my ipod on for a few days and when i went to it i couldnt slide to unlock so i did the force reset thing, and it showed the connect to itunes. So i did but it wont connect due to my passcode. I've looked at some other questions like this but they mostly say restore it, but since all my stuff is on my IPOD not my laptop, i would lose everything if i did that. Is there ANY other way to "un-freeze" my iPod?

Thanks,
