QTKitServer crashes

Almost always, whenever I open a Finder window, QTKitServer crashes indicating Quick Look Helper quit unexpectedly. This is new with Lion. This has also happened when viewing a text clipping. The com.apple.qtkitserver dated August 3, 2011 was installed by Lion. Quick Look continues to function, though. Is there any fix for this available yet?

I am getting the same problem in Spades since I loaded Lion onto my iMac. It does not happen on my MacBook Pro with Lion. It seems to happen when I interact with Finder, usually saving a file or sending a file. Although it sometimes seems to do it for no reason - very strange. Anoying rather than fatal.

I am experiencing exactly the same issue. It blows up about 30 times a day. Looking through the error I noticed 3ivx was causing the error.

I went ahead and unistalled 3ivx. So far so good. It hasn't crashed in a while. Keeping my fingers crossed.

I believe you've got it! Good close reading of my crash report, something I missed. I found the 3ivx and removed it, and have not experienced this crash since.

Testing shows you are correct, well done (and thank you!).

Uninstalling 3ivx solved the problem.

Hi, had the same problem with QTKitServer crashing in Finder, except it was Flip4Mac causing the problem in my case. Thanks for pointing to the right direction!

This works. I uninstalled 3ivx and problem went away. I must have filled out 100 Apple reports but that did nothing.

same issue. Seems to mostly be affecting Aperture. But, search didn't show 3ivx installed but it was there in /Library/Application Support. Moved it to trash. Life gets better. Much thanks.

iphoto continually crashing on import with iPhoto 9.4.2 on MacOSx

thank you forums - the problem was Flip4Mac - I removed that, import photos now works
