What is the best Memory Card reader for Nikon D300

Mary, this isn't really the most appropriate place to ask this question, since this forum is mainly to help folks who are having problems with OS X Lion.

However, having said that, I don't think there is any one card reader that is "the best." Just about any fast multi-card reader you can buy from Radio Shack will do the job. Or you can just plug the camera into the Mac directly via USB.

I have a Targus multi-card reader that I use and quite like. So, really, just go with a brand name you trust. I would suggest that you not go cheap, though, as that will mean you'll just have to spend more money in the long run.

Although you might have your own reason, I've never bothered with a card reader for my D300 as the battery is excellent and the camera is USB 2.0 so downloads all of your images in no time flat.

I'd save the money if I were you. Just set the camera to Mass Storage and it mounts itself like a Hard Drive so you can drag all your images off manually, or use Adobe Bridge (or others) if you prefer.

I'm not familari with Nikon gear, so do you really have to put the camera in "mass storage" mode for it to be seen by the OS?

I leave my D300 in Mass Storage (MSC) mode and it's seen as a Hard Drive to OS X, as well as applications like Image Capture and Adobe Bridge seeing it as a camera.

It also has a MTP/PTP mode for connection to a PC/Mac for control or to a wireless transmitter

For what it's worth, I use a Kingston FCR-HS219/1 reader myself and it works beautifully for SDHC and CF cards in Lion.
