What is a good movie editing software besides iMovie?

Your options are Final Cut or Final Cut Express. You can look for an older version but check for OSX Lion compatibility. Apple has discontinued Final Cut Express.

If you are serious about video editing then Final Cut is the way to go. Just a matter of finding a version that you can afford.

Express by a large amount,. . . is much cheaper.

Final Cut Express is less expensive, but I would look for an earlier version of Final Cut Pro with a plan to upgrade in the future.

If you are eligible for an education discount, academic pricing is available on Final Cut Pro.

The below is just my opinion.

Final cut express = 8

Final cut pro = 10

As both Final Cut Pro and Final Cut Express have been withdrawn by Apple this is entirely academic.

You wouldn't pay a lot for an earlier version. If you can get by with an older version for what you need for little money then go for it, if not, then, Final Cut Pro X from the App Store is your best option.

I still use Quicktime 7 Pro for simple editing (cutting & pasting clips). Best of all its free.

It's not - QuickTime Player vers. 7 is free. Pro is a $30 up-grade. As far as I know !

Caught me out! I was trying to make poor struggling Apple some more money.

Adobe Premiere Elements could be interesting. I don't like Adobe products much, but there is a trial version if you want to get an idea.

The key to this statement (the difference between Free and $30) is the 'pasting'. You can trim with QuickTime X, but you cannot paste 😟 Some day, maybe, some day.

Can you change the interface and get Sont Vegas?
