I tried, for me, it is Command + option + =. Hope this will help you

1) Numbers is NOT MS Excel and I am not aware there is a key equvalent

2) to insert a sum of a group of cells you have already selected you can:

A) select the menu item "Insert > Function > Sum" which will add a row at the bottom of the range you highlighted OR

B) drag the SUM tag from the botton left of the Numbers window to the cell where you want the sum result to reside

Interesting... I am using Number '09 (version 2.1) and there is no command (<control> + =). What version are you using, Badunit?

Sorry for the late response.

It would appear that I created that shortcut myself. There is a menu item Sum under the Insert/Function menu. You can create a shortcut to it in System Preferences/Keyboard.
