While trying to sync my iPod Touch (2nd gen), it will only sync about 5-15 songs before saying "iTunes has stopped working."

I just got some new songs, and want to put them on my iPod. I connected it to my laptop, and iTunes opened and automatically started to sync my songs. It only synced the first 8, then displayed an error message saying "iTunes has stopped working." The only option was to close the program, so I did. I then tried at least ten more times, with the same results. I have tried uninstalling and reinstalling iTunes, but nothing is working. Please help!
