If you click on "about this mac" then click on "more info" then go to "storage". The hard drive has been broken down in different categories and there is a category called "other" what is it?. Its taking 18gb.

    For the OP:


    I'm pretty sure it's anything that does not fall into the other categories, such as documents, files, etc. For instance, my "other" contains a lot of GB, but that's because I have a folder that contains absolutely everything (financial, letters, the list goes on) and it is over 10 GB in size - hence my guess.

    did u upgrade it or did clean install. I did clean install and then I install some of the programs such as Libre office, little snitch, movist. The biggest program i installed is Libre office which is about 450mb.

    I upgraded. And I have a lot of applications which take up a lot of room such as Final Cut Express (about 10 GB), Aperture, etc.
