my friend wants to do pear pc because he doesnt have a mac and he's too cheap to buy one since he has a good pc. pear pc is a power pc emulator which will let you install mac os x on a pc. he doenst want to buy a version of os x and have it not work (i convinced him it wont work) so he was wondering if there was anywhere you can download os x panther or tiger for free. i hate asking this, but hes my best friend, my software came on my mac, so i cant give him a copy of my tiger. please help, thanks
G5,
Mac OS X (10.4.4),
friends comp is hp pavilion with 3.00ghz pentium 4 and 300gb of hard drive and 512mb ram
If your computer came with Tiger, you certainly have a backup disk. I would avoid PearPC and use mac-on-linux, http://www.maconlinux.org/. I have Panther working well on Mandrake 10.0.
but i would like to stay with microsoft windows Xp so i dont think im gonna switch to linux... still does anyone know where he can get os x for free? or does anyone know if PearPC will work? help needed
if he is too cheap to buy a Mac Mini. PearPC's emulation is very poor from what I've read and not like having the real thing. To really get the Mac experience he needs a Mac.
