Lion battery life. Similar to iOS4 on iPhone 3?

The battery issues I am encountering on Lion (late 09 MB) are eerily familiar to when Apple updated iOS3 to iOS4 and all the older iPhones were like big drains on the batteries. Not sure if this is a similar issue, but I know it was finally fixed in iOS4.1 (our course I had fled to a Droid by then). BTW the proposed solution to my poor battery with iOS4 from Apple was to 'upgrade my hardware to the new iPhone 4'. I kid you not.
