Safari 5.1 has so many bugs I can't use it anymore. I don't know what to do. Help?

Ever since I installed OX Lion Safari has been the only problem I am really annoyed at. Every time I try to edit bookmarks or add anything to the new Reading List feature it freezes and I have to restart. Some extensions like hoverzoom don't work and sometimes it just crashes. Is this something other people have experienced? I've been trying searching google for anyone with similar problems, but have come up empty. I've had bad experiences dealing with Apple directly when it comes to issues with their applications. Not sure where else to turn. Should I just try and install an older version?

You can downgrade to Snow Leopard if you want.

Thanks for the tip, though I don't really want to do that, as I am enjoying all the other features very much. I guess I'll just switch to Firefox again.

Have you tried uninstalling your extensions and then resetting Safari. This might be the easiest troubleshoot.

Just tried it. Crashed once, next time I tried it reset, but the second I tried adding a bookmark it froze completely again and I had to force quit. It appears to work just fine as long as I don't add bookmarks or save pages to reading list. I'm going to try reinstalling the extensions to see if they work correctly now, but I don't have high hopes.

Safari is so slow for me now that I am going to have to give up on it. I like using 2 browsers at once, because I sell online under 2 names. It is acutally faster to log in and out on Firefox only these days.

Plus, many of us can no longer print out shipping labels from Ebay any longer. I have asked about this on a few boards, called ebay etc. Just not getting anywhere with that either.

I was having the same problem, I switched to firefox and the problems disappeared. Then I thought- why not just use time machine and go back to a time before 5.1. I did that and all is good! I run snow lepard with safari 5.0.5

Solved! Sort of. I found a pdf Browser plugin that brings full ebay label printing support to Safari 5.1 and OSX Lion. This includes printing of international labels.

I found it at schubert-it.com. The plugin is free for non-commercial use, or you can purchase a license if you're using it commercially.

With Safari 5.0.2 and OS X 10.6.4 I can work around the label printing issue by following this info:

Hope it helps some of you.

I upgraded to LION when it first came out and had to go back to Leopard. I have too much invested in my other programs like Photoshop that I can't afford to replace.

I checked the site, but when you go to the steps, you can actually SEE the label. Mine is blank, there is nothing there to print out.

I finally went and got a little PC acer netbook. I need to take my mac mini in for repair and need something to work on while it is in the shop.

I am hoping that I can print my labels from it. If so, then I will just keep that set up for my shipping needs.

And I am so so tired of the new Safari. I have to Force quit at least 2 times a day.

I am hoping that I can have something done with that too while it is being repaired.

And my Iphoto which is super slow now.
