delete every other row

I would add...

Add a column and Fill with =ROW(). Select Column, Command-C, Edit > Paste Values. Do this first.

When finished with other operations, Sort on this column to restore original order in case it suffered a shuffle in the other sort. Just some insurance.

Add a new column.

In the first non-header cell in the column,enter the formula:

=ISODD(ROW())

Fill down to the end of the table.

Copy; Edit > Paste Values (to remove the formula).

Sort the table on this column.

Select the rows you want to delete (top half, labeled FALSE or bottom half, labeled TRUE).

Go Table > Delete Column to remove the selected column.

The idiom "every other row" is interpreted as every 2nd row, which would be all the even rows or all the odd rows.
