Problems with magic trackpad

I have problems with my Magic Trackpad (connected via BT to a 2010 15" MacBook Pro).

The combination worked fine before the upgrade to Lion. Now it happens after about 2 hours of flawless working that suddently the mouse pointer goes to random places, preferably to the upper left corner or screen edges, invoking all kinds of actions (Launchpad, Mission Control,...). Sometimes the cursor disappears. Moving it in a controlled way is impossible, because it seems to jump.

When I open the load of the MacBook, I can still use the Macbook's trackpad without any problem (however, that's not a solution to the problem because I work with an external screen and an external Apple keyboard).

There are no system panel plug-ins that deal with the trackpad.

I can only "fix" the problem by a complete reboot.

what is wrong?

Best regards,

I tried to explain that before:

I work with an external screen and don't want to have the open lid and the second screen of the MacBook stand in the way (I find this confusing and awkward). Therefore the MacBook sits somewhere at the other end of the table, lid closed, and I use external BT keyboard and trackpad (both the most recent Apple gear, of course).

I have the same problem - and can't find a real solution. When my Magic Trackpad does as you describe, I turn Bluetooth off for a while. When I turn Bluetooth back on, often it works as before. This is a bit better than rebooting the whole system, but as you say, reaching over to the trackpad on the MacBook Pro is a pain when you are using a large monitor.

Hope someone somewhere will be able to give a better solution - or really not a better solution as the above is not a solution, so someone somewhere will provide a solution to this immensely annoying problem.

What does Apple say about this problem?
