Same here...
Same here, happened in the last 24 hrs or so. I've had Lion installed since release.
Exactly!
I have had Lion installed for 2 weeks but "word of the day" stopped only just today. I don't think it's absence today is related to Lion upgrade but perhaps the "word of the day site is down for maintenance or something?
I miss this feature and hope it is fixed soon
not working here either! miss it, it was nice...
You prolly right, it just stopped working yesterday so you are in my similiar situation. Well, let's hope.

+1 for me.
Stopped working a couple of days ago so must be some form of server based issue as I don't be there's been any software updates on Lion in that time period.

I called AppleCare about this and they said Word of the Day was supported by Snow Leopard but not by Lion. Because we upgraded, Word of the Day is left over as an option, but it's incompatible with Lion. =/ You can go into Macintosh HD>System>Library>Screen Savers if you really want to delete it, but I don't think it's necessary. It just won't work. =/
That doesn't explain why most people seem to have been having this issue since a couple of days ago. I upgraded to Lion back in July and Word of the Day was working fine until recently. Any chance Apple will fix the compatibility issue in an upcoming software update?
if apple says it's dead, it's dead. why go on with this?
Yes, precisely. The crash of "word of the day" cannot be related to the Lion upgrade. Some other issue must be at fault. And to clarify and be specific "Apple" did not say it was not supported but rather one person working in customer support said "word of the day" was not supported - and since some of us Lion users having the screen saver work and only just now failing, that one person at Apple seems to have made an error in guessing what the problem is. Why keep discussing this? Because "word of the day" is a useful screen saver in an educational setting and it is worth the effort to fix it and restore it as a screen saver option. Hoping there is a fix soon.
That is exactly what happened to me too. Upgradeded from Snow Leopard to Lion. Screen Saver was working but two to three weeks after the upgrade it stopped working. Reboots, selecting the screen saver, de-selecting it doesn't work. Very disappointing if Apple stops supporting this.

I wonder how many people at Apple have to say it's not supported before it becomes not supported? 🙂
It was working fine for me with a brand new MacBook Air with OS X Lion already installed...no upgrades. Something's up...
Same for me... worked for about a week or so afte rthe upgrade -- now its gone.
And I have had MORE than one representative from Apple Care tell me that "xyz isn't supported" or that "this is your ISPs problem", etc. before finding out that the person was NOT correct. Everyone makes mistakes 🙂
