AppleTV fails to load Slideshow from iPad

I have my AppleTV and an iPad set up to a WiFi network. When I try to enable the Slideshow feature of the Photos app on my iPad, the AppleTV pinwheels breifly, flickers through 3-5 images within about a half second, then returns to the previous AppleTV screen.

More info:

When I am in an album in Photos, I can select an image, port it to AppleTV and it displays correctly. I can flick through the photos just fine, it's just when I try to use the Slideshow feature that the AppleTV does not work correctly.

I've tried this on 3 WiFi networks, 2 do not work. Anybody have thought to what is causing the problem?

When you say two do not work, do you mean two networks just don't work at all or your slideshows don't stream via Airplay over two of your networks.

I should have clarified. Airplay works on all of these, the part about these networks that does not work is the Slideshow functionality.

The network that it did work on was my home wireless network and I am looking to use it at work. I even opened up a new router from the box (Linksys Wireless-G Router for Mobile Broadband, Moden no. WRT54G3G-AT), no security settings, normal configurations, and it is not working there either. The router seems to be working correctly (local data, and internet data).

Also, both the iPad I am connecting and the AppleTV have the latest software updates. I also Restored the AppleTV to no avail.

Does that help? Thanks!

The network that it did work on was my home wireless network and I am looking to use it at work.

So just to be certain:

1) The network that did work at home, played the slideshow for you as expected. (Y/N)

2) The network(s) at work don't play slideshows (Y/N)

3) Is there anything in common with the network at home and the one at work, i.e are you using the same computer, router etc

Apologies on not being clear initially.

1) The network that did work at home, played the slideshow for you as expected. (Y/N)

2) The network(s) at work don't play slideshows (Y/N)

3) Is there anything in common with the network at home and the one at work, i.e are you using the same computer, router etc

1) Yes.

2) Yes.

3) I am using the same AppleTV, the same iPad, same photos on the iPad. The routers are different, so inherently, I am asking, are there some network configs that AppleTVs like? Certain encryption types, DHCP settings, etc?

Great idea! I hooked up the AppleTV to the ethernet and made sure it was only connected by that means (ie. no WiFi connection), and no avail - Slideshow in Airplay does not work. Previously, I had both the iPad and AppleTV hooked up to this network wirelessly. Airplay by itself works on all of these networks, just not with the Slideshow feature of Photos using Airplay.

There is no interference as far as I can tell. Local traffic has no problem going through, as well as outbound Internet traffic on the same router. The only difference between the work routers and the home, is that the home router is a modem-router combo, but that really should have no effect on this. The only time I got this to behave correctly was at home and everything was connected via WiFi.

Thanks so much for the input Winston! Any more thoughts?

Solution: it's a bug in the software (resolved by Apple Store employees)

An update though: Took my router, iPads (an iPad and iPad2), and the AppleTV to the Apple Store. Tried setting it up there, didn't work. Tried it on their network, didn't work. Reinstalled iOS by hooking it up to a Macbook - it worked!...for a few minutes. Now tried it on the local Apple Store network and another AppleTV, worked! At this point, we replaced my AppleTV. Didn't work on my router or the Apple Store network.

TL;DR: Wait for the bug fix. Maybe iOS 5 will offer the solution.
