Are your pictures in iPhoto?
When you first set up a new Mac, you are asked if you already have a Mac. If you click Yes, you will be prompted how to connect it up, and how to get your data copied over.
That's all fine and good if the original Mac is Intel, and the new Mac is Intel, but the signature says PowerPC Mac. PowerPC Macs don't always work well with the Migration Assistant going to Intel Macs. That's why I'm just asking the direct transfer option.

It shows 10.6.8 on mine, so it must be Intel?
Yes, except they said iMac PowerPC. So either they misidentified their Mac, or they have two machines, one Intel, and one PowerPC. Let's get that clarified before assuming one way or the other.
daynafromtoronto,
To identify your Mac, go to Apple menu -> About This Mac. If it says G5, it is PowerPC. If it says Intel CoreDuo, Core2Duo, or Core i3, Core i5, Core i7, it is Intel. Please tell us which it says on each Mac you are moving data from and to, so the advice we give you is accurate and most seamless.
Weird. The OP doesn't mention a PowerPC, he just says "my old mac". It could be he's set wrong Categories, i.e. doesn't know what PPC means? (May only ever have used Intel Macs, which would account for why so many users post incorrectly in this forum).
