Thank you for the reply. Unfotunately, I have determined that since it's also having problems reading Blu-ray movie discs now, the drive is hosed. It wont read or burn. My clue was when it has issues in Windows (via Parallels) too. I also found out that this drive is an OEM drive and LG offers zero support for their OEM products. Not even firmware! Version 1.0 is as far as they go. Plus, it literally died exactly one year to the date of when I purchased it. Although, it doesnt seem like LG has any kind of a warranty for OEM drives anyway. I'll never buy another LG product (dont get me started on my LG phone). Ironically, my old Pioneer DVD burner that used to be in my old G4 (and is now in my Mac Pro) is still working like a charm. So, the fact that this happened after I installed Lion seems to be coincidental.

Oh for hel's sake, jason.

Whow, someone's a little quick to respond, aren't ya? What are you doing: just sitting there by your phone waiting for it to ring? Looks like the nitpicker here is you! You're picking--incorrectly--on someone who happens to be correctly stating what you've just said. I quote: "Second of all, Macs DO support Blu-ray." Yes, you said that. Scroll up and look! DUH!

If you want to make an exclusive statement about something, then try doing it right sometime.

Oh, crap, Jason, how come I can't edit it any more?

Sorry, I misread!

"Second of all, Macs DO support Blu-ray." When I first read it, I got the "all" misplaced! For that to have been "all Macs support...," there would have to be TWO "all"s there! It would have to say "Second of all, all Macs do support Blu-ray."

Hahaha!

So what I would do now, if I could edit those now (what's with the stupid time limit on editing?) is just delete the first one and then state in the second one nothing more than this explanation that I had misread what you wrote the first time.
