I can't see BCC recipients on sent items

When I send a message using BCC I can't see the BCC field in my sent items. I've tried viewing the Full Headers and the data isn't there. The workaround I've foud is to log in to Webmail and view the details there.

Why does OSX mail not show this information?

MacBook Pro 13, Mac OS X (10.6.8), OSX 10.6.3 at Work, Win 7 at Home... for now

Sorry BobHarris, I misread your first reply. It sounds like you've got things working exactly how I'd expect - and how they should.

I've found another thread discussing the problem here: https://discussions.apple.com/thread/2680981?threadID=2680981 and I suspect this is another symptom of Mail not correctly forming the fields for Exchange servers like meantioned here: https://discussions.apple.com/thread/2531837?answerId=12963185022#12963185022.

So I guess i'll have to sit patently and wait for Apple to fix the bug.... if they ever do.

I would encourage you to file a bug report of your own. The more people that let Apple know there is a problem, the more likely they will see the wisdom in addressing it. Besides you may have a unique angle that helps them see the root to the problem.

Same issue with Lion, why Apple does not fix issues like this and ignore them but after a while they say oh we have a BUG, i assume they have bugs in their brains..

If I look at the 'Sent' folder, I can see the 'BCC' if I look at the Mail -> View -> Messages -> Raw Source.

I see the same using Thunderbird (a 3rd party email client).

However, with both Mail and Thunderbird, a received email does NOT show the 'BCC' which is what a "Blind Carbon Copy" is all about, in that the recipient does not see the 'BCC' entries.

I dont see it at all in the Raw Source either. Plus I've checked my "Header Details" options and BCC should be showing regardless.

I can view the message through Webmail or through Outlook and see the details. It's an Exchange account so Thunderbird isn't an option.

BCC is all about the recipient not seeing other recipients - I've never noticed an application prevent the sender from seeing who they sent it to before.

Again, I saw the 'BCC' in the Mail -> Sent folder, NOT in the copy recieved by the sender.

I mentioned Thunderbird, as a non-Apple product that behaves the same, in that I could see the 'BCC' in the Sent folder, but NOT in the BCC copy recieved by the sender.

So I have 2 examples where the sender does not see the 'BCC' information in the copy received, but the sender can see the 'BCC' information in the Sent folder.

There is nothing to say this has to be the same for all email clients.

Another possibility is that the 'BCC' is being stripped off by the email server which is delivering the 'BCC' copies. Just a thought.
