ipad itunes sync problem

My ipad (and iphone) both will not sync with itunes.

I have not been able to sync sunce the middle of July.

I have seen a LARGE number of posts around the internet with the same problem.

I have tried many suggestions with no success.

Does ANYONE have a solution?

Does Apple have a solution and is Apple even interested in resolving this issue?

There are no rpomises here on this site - lots of useful suggestions and many of them will work but It's hard to find a solution without knowing specifically what is going on.

In addition to trying the support link that Eric posted - exactly what is happening? Error codes? Devices not recognized in iTunes? Sync starts but does not complete? Any specific messages when trying to sync .... details???

At what point in the backup do you get stuck? On a specific app? There are times when I do a backup that an app will make the sync process hang. If that happens, I just cancel the sync, delete the app from my device, sync, then add the app back in. Please make note of exactly where you get stuck. Also, if you have firewall or virus protection software running, turn them off before you try to sync........This is process of elminiation and of course is frustrating, but it is solvable........

Frankly, I am such a novice on itunes that I don't even know how to tell what app is stopping the backup.

And I have turned off the firewall during the sync process, but didn't think about the virus protection...but Webroot usually would give me a notice.

Agian, I thank you for the help.

And I know it is solvable or there would be NO buyers for any computer hardware. It is all logical in some way.

If you have a corrupt backup, it could be causing the hangup and you may need to delete it but start with some simple things and see how you make out.

Close all of the recent apps in the task bar. Go to your home screen. Double tap the home button to bring up all the recent apps in the task bar. Tap and hold down on one of the icons until they all begin to wiggle. Then tap the minus signs in the upper left corner of the icons to close each one. Tap the screen above the task bar to return to the home screen.

Now restart your iPad. To restart the iPad hold down on the sleep button until the red slider appears and the slide to the right to shut it off. Then press the sleep button until the Apple logo appears to start up again.

Reboot your computer and then try to sync again.
