windows 7 which is having difficulty accessing the wireless internet.

With several Macs in our house we recently bought a time capsule and the wireless internet access is fine for them, but the one dell laptop we have with windows 7 is having difficulty reliably accessing the internet through the Airspace. I was told that the security level that the Airspace is higher than Windows 7?

any help is much appreciated

Sorry, but what are you referring to when you referenced "Airspace?" Did you mean to say "AirPort?"

No need to be sorry, I just wanted to be sure what you meant.

Your Time Capsule (TC) is capable of providing all the current wireless security standards (WEP, WPA, and WPA2). If your Win7 PC is not older than 5-6 years old, it should be capable of connecting to any wireless network with any of those standards as well.

It the wireless function of this Dell laptop built-in or an add-on card, like a wireless USB adapter?

Regardless, I would start by first temporarily disabling wireless security on the TC; verify that the Dell laptop can or cannot connect to an unprotected wireless network, and then, re-enable wireless security.

Was the laptop able to connect? If not, can this same laptop connect to other Wi-Fi networks?

You administer the TC by using the AirPort Utility. This utility can run on either a Mac or PC so you will need to use one of your Macs that are not having any issues connecting to the TC.

To disable/enable wireless security on the TC:

  • AirPort Utility > Select the TC > Manual Setup > AirPort > Wireless tab
  • (to disable) Wireless Security: Off
  • (to enable) Wireless Security: <just use the choice that was enabled previously>

Note: You will have to re-enter the wireless security passwords.
