The website “https://mail.google.com” is requesting 10 MB of disk space to store for my gmail account

I don't allow but it is persitant everytime a new email comes in via iGoogle or Gmail

I have scanned the forums but people with the same problem don't seem to be able to get an answer

As I have discovered Gmail does not need to or does store any data on the local hard drive.

The problem is not happening in Firefox

I bumped into this problem and solved it today.

Apple Safari allows each web site 5M local storage space without asking. So when Safari prompted you to allow google gmail for more space, it certainly is because google code requesting more. (Just think why it is always Gmail ask for it and not others?)

I found that I just need to clean up current local storage and Safari will not prompt me for more space for gmail any more. Do this in Safari:

Click: Safari->Preference->Privacy->Details

You will be amazed by how many web sites store their data in your Mac.

Next, select "Remove all" and then close all the Sarari windows. Then do a restart. And you will not be prompted any more after restart.
