Double click not working

Thanks Bob, I couldn't work out why I couldn't open an email with a double click, or a file using Finder, even though I've trolled through the blogs. Using Word was frustrating too as I couldn't use double clicking to select words, paragraphs etc. I tried changing the settings under 'Mouse' but never thought of using the Accessibility icon. Now everything works - all by reducing the speed!

not sure if this will help with your issues

have a look at universal settings, mouse and track pad button

then at the bottom of there, should be a trackpad/mouse option, you can control double clicking speed in here

I know this post is kind of old, but I am now on Maverick and I can't find "Universal Settings" I too can't double click. Can someone help me?

System Preferences -> Accessibility -> Mouse & Trackpad

For future reference, you can actually search inside System Preference and find which preferences have references to items you might be looking for:

Double click stopped working when I installed Sierra , on two IMacs

Choose photo or photos you want to open.

Then hit the space bar. To go back to thumbnails

use the space bar again.
