Any solution in sight for the constant automatic log-outs?

Just wondering if there's any chance of solving the problem of being logged out dozens of times per day?

I know the Jive software is the absolute pits, but even the elephantine Adobe bureaucracy managed to solve this constant log-out problem on their forums, which are also underpowered by Jive.

In any event, at least I'll have this post to find this board again.

I am staying logged on now. Problem seems to have went away on Thursday August 11!

Work-a-rounds…

Any interaction with the server for the forum software will reset the logout clock.

Opera

Opera includes a reload function.

The Community Hosts have fixed the problem, you should be able to stay logged in as long as the browser you use stays open, once you close it, you will be logged out.

That's not the case here. I've been logged out three times this afternoon already, without my having closed Firefox 3.6.19 under Tiger 10.4.11. I'm within roughly 100 miles of Apple Headquarters in Cupertino.

Please don't interpret this as a complaint against Apple or the forums. I'm familiar with the miserable performance of Jive software. 😟

CORRECTED: Firefox 3.6.19

Nah, it's Jive alright. My ISP and their servers (SureWest) have been rock solid for years and years, and serving many large hi tech coroporatiions in this area, including a large local HP plant.

Unless… when you wrote "you should be able to stay logged in as long as the browser you use stays open, once you close it, you will be logged out", did you mean browser tab as opposed to the browser itself remaining open? I certainly have closed the tabs but have not quit the browser.

Ironically, I've now been logged in for about 75 minutes, and that's a record. 🙂

Incidentally, have any forum users requested to have bread crumbs leading back to the particular forum also at the bottom of the page, as they are at the top?

Example for this page:

Not much, other than obtaining some great info and advice on the G5 Quad. 😀

The Adobe forums, also underpowered by Jive, had the same logout problems for the first two years or so after Adobe switched from WebCrossing to Jive in 2009 (or was it 2008?). They finally found some workaround. I've been logged on there since sometime last year, despite quitting the broswser often. They did get their bread crumbs at the bottom of the page from Jive in a relatively short time. Otherwise, Jive hasn't been able to address a host of complaints over there.

I wouldn't hold Jive's utter incompetence againd Adobe—or Apple. 😎
