Help with Downloads of "office for mac"

I downloaded updates for "Office for Mac" a few days ago and it won't finish. It keeps saying I have to close Safari, Microsoft Word and Microsoft Powerpoint and I don't have any of these open. Can anybody help me?

If you are downloading Office for mac from the microsoft website , contact their help & support

I tried that route and they informed me this was not their issue and it was with the end product, hence my MBPro. I posted my issue here in hope so f resolve.
