Empty trash causes error -110

When I empty the trash, then I have a good chance that I get error -110.

I have DiskWarrior, Norton Disk Doctor and TechTool Pro.

They all say that nothing is wrong, before and after the error -110, except Disk Doctor says that it can't continue because it's out of memory, but if I try DiskWarrior first then Disk Doctor doesn't complain.

Since I installed DiskWarrior 2.1.1 with DiskShield, the error didn't appear, but I got a warning from DiskShield that said that a program tried to damage the directory (this program is always Finder).

Since I installed CacheSaver and asked it to save the cache after 5 seconds of idling the warning didn't appear, but my computer works now 10 times slower.

If I turn "Bulk file operations are faster" on then error -110 returns.

If I turn DiskShield off then error -110 returns.

The error can also return when I create a large number of small files, for example by expanding an archive with StuffIt Expander.

I think that the disk cache isn't flushed frequently enough.

If the error occurs and I try again to empty the trash, then the Finder quits.

If no one knows the solution, then I consider trying FWB Hard Disk Toolkit 4.5.2 or Speed Doubler 8 to replace the cache.

A bit more details about the computer:

- startup disk is 20 GB 7200 rpm on 66 MHz bus, with 1 volume.

- second disk is 80 GB 7200 rpm on 100 MHz bus, with 8 volumes.

- disk cache has been 32 MB and 8 MB, same result for errors, now is 128K, don't know what would be ideal.
