Location Services icon always on, even with no apps running

Noticed last night for the first time; as long as LS are turned on, the icon is apprearing in the corner -- even if no apps are running. Done multiple resets and memory cleaning, as well as turning off every app in the quick-start bar, but the arrow icon is stil there. No new apps.

We're in the middle of moving, so until I get my computer set up in my new place I can't do an iTunes sync to see if that solves it.

Anyone else ever have this? Any suggestions?

Well, mine does turn off....eventually. It is now longer. It can take anywhere from 8 seconds to many many minutes to turn off. However, unlike the OP, disabling location services does completely shut down location services.

In my case, It is not one app and it is also inconsitent. I just did a restore from backup and reset my privacy and location settings. Will see how that goes, but it always happens at the worst possible time when I am on the road using Apple or Google maps, and Waze, Beat the Traffic, or Inrix. I've tried disabling each of them and using just the one and still lags big time. All this after 6.1 update.

If this is a software issue, I am ok with that. Eventually it will be fixed; however, if it is a hardware problem I have to get it sent back to Apple for a replacement.

@99hondashadowace the problem we were all experiencing was unrelated to the Google Now app (it didn't exist - it wasn't integrated to the Google Search app until very recently). However, you're correct, the newest issue is a power drain problem with the Beta app.

Just an FYI. Reset my network connections fixed the location services issue I had previously. I have to do this about once every few days.

The only fix for the Google app is UNINSTALL it.

FWIW, I have an app that even if I disable location services for that app, and force kill the app, the arrow icon remains active until I restart my iPhone. It is a little awkward that I have to manually disable location service s for the app, then kill the app, then restart my iPhone to get it to stop using location services. Similarly, if I re-enable location services for that app & launch the app, it tells me that location services are still off, but it will then proceed to start using location services. Kinda weird, but since I know about it I can use my little work around until the app developer releases an update to correct this.

Hey guys,

I deleted the Weather channel app and I would still have the location services on. I went in and shut off all of the apps and I was still having this issue. I then noitced that in "General, Location services, system services, frequent locations" I had the frequent Location services on. This services Allows your iphone to learn places you frequently visit in order to provide useful location-related information to apple and app services. When I shut this off the location icon issue was fixed. Hope this helps some peeps...

-Cheers
