iMac 27" AMD Radeon HD 6970M 2048 MB - Video Problems

I just got a brand new iMac 27" and am having issues with my video. The last iMac I bought had video issues, and a couple months after owning it, Apple/AMD fixed the driver issue and it worked fine. However, this video issue happens within 5 minutes of each time I start the machine. Here is a screen shot - check out the upper menu distortion and the lower menu.

Anyway, is this something I should try and live with until Apple sends out an update - or do I need to return this Mac?

You should be in touch with AppleCare to open a case. You can find the phone number in your manual or use the AppleCare Contact Info link. If you are in a country that has Express Lane service take advantage of that.

After positng my comment I saw that others were having some of the same issues. They said that the problems start when a flash video is played - or watched over the web. Sure enough, that starts the issue.

Apple says they are aware of the proplem and will have it fixed in 10.7.1 - which should be soon. So getting a new iMac will not help. I guess I need to treat my iMac the same as my iPad in the meantime and stay away from Flash.

Adobe and Apple need to kiss and make up. Their customers are suffering over the battle.

One thing you probably should do is navigate to Adobe's site to see if you have the most up-to-date version of Flash. Apple no longer includes it in OS X when they ship. I'm not saying this will solve your issue but it may and you have nothing to lose.

Fortunately not all Mac users are having issues, I have two Mac's (a late 2010 MBA and a late 2007 iMac) and both seem to run fine. So it appears issues are narrowed down to a subset of users. Not an excuse of course just indicating the problem doesn't affect all users.
