    Hi, this had helps me:

go to Start -> programs -> assessoires -> right click on command prompt - using as administrator

    then type in:

    netsh winsock reset

All your problems are going away.

This is definitely THE FIX for the iTunes Store access issue! Go to the Command Prompt and enter "netsh winsock reset". This fixed my problem.  I was also having a problem with wi-fi syncing my iPad with iTunes and this action fixed that issue as well.  Glad  to see that the community has found this solution,  Spread the word.

I tried that then restarted and it didn't fix my access to the itunes store....I don't get any errors the progress bar goes half way and just stops with a blank screen.

    Any other ideas?

    Same here.

Tried that, but no luck at all. Progress bar keeps staying for a long time waiting and then nothing.

I've had problems with itunes and spyware doctor for months. After the latest update to itunes 10.5, i couldn't connect to the itunes store. I just updated to the latest version of spyware doctor and all my problems are gone. If you use spyware doctor, make sure you go to pctools.com and update to the latest version. Should solve all your problems.

I'm having similar problems with 10.5. I managed to install it but when I try to run itunes it doesn't open correctly and when I view my account the screen is not presented in the correct format. When I try to search for music it finds nothing. So I ran the diagnostics option but this came back with an error ' secure link to itunes failed'. It also said that the internet connection was verified but when I went into the help option it said I wasn't connected to the internet but as you can see I was and am. I've now uninstalled and reinstalled 3 times, each time I uninstall I've followed the correct sequence as recommended:-

    1. Itunes

    2. Quicktime

    3. Apple software update

    4. Apple mobile device support

    5. Bonjour

    6. Apple application support

I've noticed now that 'quicktime' didn't get reinstalled, not sure if that's the problem. Also when I rebooted after the last Uninstall I received a new error message ' Applesyncnotifier.exe - unable to locate component'. I've also noticed that my CPU is running at 50% according to task manager when I've got Apple loaded, but it goes down to less than 20% when it's uninstalled and even goes down to 0%

I went through exactly the same exercise as you did, including the the CPU hyperactiviity to one of the Apple routines..  The solution that fixes everything is the one I mentioned in my post above from October 15. I am running Win XP pro. From Start select All Programs, Accessories, Command Prompt or alternatively select Run, type in command. Enter the text as indicated.  I am not sure if it works the same way in Win7 - haven't seen any posts about a fix in Win7 Either.

Effective with iTunes 10.5, Quicktime is not bundled with iTunes any more. Once you get iTunes working again, run the Apple Software Update to get the latest version of Quicktime - this is not part of your current problem.

Thanks for that, I'd already seen your message about the command entry., I'm running XP home edition but  I'll give it a go.

I had some compatibility issues with some software on my computer.  I updated the software and the problem went away.
