[Solved] People who have difficulties downloading Windows Support Software from BootCamp 4.0

Hi guys,

I have been facing some problems since yesterday trying to download the windows support software drivers for my windows 7 installation on my Macbook Air. The error message i encountered is always "Can't download Windows Support Software because of a network problem."

However, there is a alternative manual download that you guys can use.

Head down to http://swscan.apple.com/content/catalogs/others/index-lion.merged-1.sucatalog and use the browser search function to find the link to "BootCampESD.pkg" and use the link download that package and enjoy your windows 7 drivers for Macbook Air. You can check the date to check which is the lastest.

P.s. I am not sure if this works with mac mini boot camp 4 or any other but if it works for you guys post your success stories here!

The direct link to the current lastest BootCampESD.pkg : http://swcdn.apple.com/content/downloads/54/25/041-0707/2VPHmdxTTJW2yYdy3qHCChmQ PH5dn74pbR/BootCampESD.pkg (2011-07-20)

Hope it helps those who have a hard time are looking for the Windows 7 drivers for Macbook Air like i did.

Cheers!

When you got the pkg then simply install it on other harddrive.

This will make it easier to find windows 7 driver software.

It will locate in : library>application support>Bootcamp

Not really correct to say

"The direct link to the current lastest BootCampESD.pkg"

Should say "to ONE of the current lastest BootCampESD.pkg-es"

because there is not just one package for all Macs. Should be 4-5 packages (maybe more for these new models), so if you download this one, it may not be correct for your Model Identifier. First open the English.dist file for each pakage to see what models each one sypports.

Now if only Apple were clever enough to offer direct downloads based on the model of computer like the rest of the world does.

Open Terminal, paste: curl http://swscan.apple.com/content/catalogs/others/index-lion.merged-1.sucatalog, then use Command F to find BootcampESD, you'll find something like :

<string>http://swcdn.apple.com/content/downloads/55/51/041-3891/se4uhpqng48t842cdsosqh28 lft54fmswl/BootCampESD.pkg</string>

<key>Size</key>

<integer>942970709</integer>

</dict>

</array>

<key>PostDate</key>

<date>2012-06-15T11:55:29Z</date>

<key>Distributions</key>

<dict>

<key>English</key>

<string>http://swcdn.apple.com/content/downloads/55/51/041-3891/se4uhpqng48t842cdsosqh28 lft54fmswl/041-3891.English.dist</string>

Copy and Paste the dist file address to your browser, you will find Model Identifiers that the package support. For expamle, the packge above 041-3891 support for Macbook Air 5.1, 5.2 and Macbook Pro 10.1.

For Model Identifiers,go to About this Mac --More Info-- System Report

So i've been having a similar problem (downloading through the bootcamp assistent seems to stop after 20% or so). Not having a cd drive means i dont have any drivers that came with it and this thread has been really helpful!

I have a Retina Macbook Pro (MacBookPro10,1) and these are the drivers for that (also works with MacBookAir5,1 and MacBookAir5,2 which im assuming are the 2012 MBA)

http://swcdn.apple.com/content/downloads/55/51/041-3891/se4uhpqng48t842cdsosqh28 lft54fmswl/BootCampESD.pkg

I'm downloading it at the moment, GOD ITS SLOW. Going at 100 KB/s

Apple servers seem to be extremely slow for downloaidng anything for me (even app updates take AGES) Only happened recently. Dunno why.

EDIT: Okkkkkk, so for the **** of it i decided to try a download manager (igetter) AND DAYUM ITS MUCH FASTER. Now going at around 400KB/s (still slow but much better than 2hours)
