TV with Scart - which Mac Mini

Got a relatively old TV with only a scart connection as input. Which is the newest Mac mini I could use to connect with my TV and using which cables?

I also have a brand new Samsung D6500 with buld in wifi. Is there any chance of using it as a screen for the Mac mini, but wirelessly?

Appreciate your help!

I'm guessing that's a pretty old TV (not HD?) and the only inputs in a SCART socket are standard definition - that will be really low resolution to use as a computer monitor (think 640x480 or 768x576 etc.) You'll need an adapter that gives out Composite Video, and then a CV>SCART adapter like this:

... but I wouldn't recommend it - the picture will be TERRIBLE!

However, your Samsung D6500 is HD (think 1920x1080) and should work well as a monitor - if a little large! You can't connect to it wirelessly, you'll need to use the HDMI input though.

Thanks for your answer. The TV is a 4 year old B&O Beovision 7 - 40, so I'm not replacing this one for some time... I need to somehow, play movies without burning a DVD to the B&O, and the only thing i can think of is a Mac Mini - but i have to find which model has an output that converts to SCART.

With the Samsung on the other hand I connect wirelessly to my iMac and can stream them of there...or by simply using a USB flash drive, something which i cant do with the B&O.

Please help

Yes that looks like the right sort of adapter. However I would also add my view that the result will be really awful to watch. I think you should conder replacing the TV. Even a secondhand one with a HDMI or DVI input will be orders of magnitude better. You should consider that by replacing the TV you also save the money you would have to pay for the video adapter making the cost less.

It is likely that with this adapter you will have problems with the TV coping with 4:3 (full frame) vs. 16:9 (widescreen). At best you are likely to need to tell the TV to stretch some to widescreen.

I did a search for the model of TV you list and according to this site http://beophile.com/?page_id=1259 it does have a DVI input. Therefore you should use the Apple HDMI to DVI adapter included with the Mac mini, and also a stereo mini-jack to twin phono audio cable. This will give you the ability to drive the TV at HD resolution (720p).
