Next would be to do the followingin order:

- Reset the iPod:

Reset iPod touch: Press and hold the On/Off Sleep/Wake button and the Home

button at the same time for at least ten seconds, until the Apple logo appears.

- Restore the iPod from backup

- Restore the iPod to factory defaults/new iPod

If still short battery life, it is time to make an appointment at the Genius Bar of an Apple store or call AppleCare.

Hello there,

Sometimes, my battery needs a charge like everyday. I charge it, then the next day it needs a charge again. I do play apps (games, imessage, facetime, etc...), but mine goes down very fast. I found an app called "Battery Doctor" (its a free app right now or you could upgrade to the pro which is $1.00). What it does is, when you plug in your ipod to charge, open up this app, and it does a special charging method (It uses 3 steps).

First step: Charges the battery very fast until 80%

Second step: Charges the battery at lower speed until it reaches completly full or 100%

Third Step: Trickles the battery to get the electric charge to move around in the battery

You could also try seaching in the app store: "Battery Doctor" , "Battery Magic" , "Battery Saver".

Also try contacting Apple to let them know 😀

Hope this helps!

Fully charged is when the lightning symbol disappears and the plug symbol is shown in the battery icon. The battery is not full simply because the green colour occupies the entire battery icon.

Once fully charged, if you then have the brightness on full, you never let the screen turn off, you're playing an online game (so the Wi-Fi is being used), and you have the Bluetooth turned on etc. etc., then the battery will drop down very quickly. Would you be doing anything like that?

If not, what are you doing?

So I never get the plug symbol? Is that bad...

Not neccessarily, but it should appear in the end.

  1. While it's charging, do you see the lightning symbol in the battery icon?
  2. How long do you leave it on charge? I believe it may need at least four hours.
  3. Is it an Apple wall charger, or another brand. If it is another brand, does it say it's output is 5volts at 500mA (or more mA)?
  4. How long have you had the iPod?

Hello,

Yes, when its charging, I see the lightning symbol in the battery icon.

I leave it on charge until when you press the Wake/Sleep button, and then the screen turns on and shows a battery (green filled all the way).

It is not an Apple wall charger, it is Belkin. It says: Model #F8Z630 Input:100-240v AC 0.5A 50-60Hz Output:DC5v/2.1A

I have had the Ipod since August (I do not know the exact date) 2012.

P.S. I do use "Battery Doctor"

  • That Belkin charger is suitable for your iPod.
  • A green filled battery in the middle of your screen when you press the Sleep/Wake button is not a fully charged battery. In the screenshot below, it may look "full".

.. it's still charging, until it changes to this;

Battery Doctor is an indicator, it's not the final word. However, I notice in the screenshots of it in the iTunes Store, a page that prompts you to turn off certain features, such as Wi-Fi and GPS if you're not using them, in order to extend battery life. This is a good idea, although if you have not waited until the Apple battery icon shows full, that's almost certainly what your problem is.

Thank - You so much! So how long does it take to "fully" charge the ipod to turn into the black plug?

It might take four hours, it depends on exactly how much charge it requires. As has been pointed out, the battery indicator is just that, an indication - it's approximate.

If you leave it on charge overnight, it will stop charging when it's full.

If you're charging it during the day, you will simply have to wait and see how long it takes. It's not an exact science.

I just unplug my ipod when the 1st screenshot appears in the middle of the screen.

That's your problem then.
