Does anyone sell replacement rubber feet for Macbook pro?

Replacement rubber feet for MBP unibody. This might sort the issue with the wobble I have.

"Apple has determined that under certain circumstances the rubber surface on some MacBooks may separate from the bottom case of the system. MacBooks shipped between October 2009 and April 2011 may experience this issue.

Apple will replace the bottom case of any affected MacBook, free of charge, that exhibits the issue. "

You might qualify for this program:

One place to try is your local AASP. Often they have parts machines, and will just give you a replacement foot. I got some for my iBook that way. Also a good way to get replacement hardware if you just need a screw or two. Kind of pot luck on what they might have, but my experience is that they can be very helpful.

The MacBook program is different--for whatever reason, the MacBook has a rubberized bottom, but no actual feet. The program is to replace the entire bottom, and it's for the white unibody MacBooks.

My MBP sits on four round rubber feet. One of them detached and I stopped by the local Apple Store to find out what type of glue they used (I had the foot). The Genius said he used Superglue and was ready to install a new foot gratis. I don't know if this applies to all Apple stores, but take it down and see what happens. I made the repair myself.

Ciao.

which Apple Store did you go to? Two of the ones here in Colorado, Aspen Grove and Briargate told me my only option was to pay $186 for a new bottom. I went to he hardware store and repurposed some feet I found there. But the way I was treated in those two stores makes it hard for me to want spend more money with Apple.

Wahb, greetings: I'm very disappointed to hear of your less than satisfactory experience at those two stores. To suggest that you have to purchase the bottom case in order to replace the rubber foot does sound excessive. From an engineering stand point, the design is such that by simply gluing the feet to the case it simply is a question how soon it will fail. It may be satisfactory for desk tops which are very sedentary, but not for a laptop that gets moved a lot. My pre-unibody MBP also suffered this affliction, so this phenomenon is nothing new.

What you might consider doing is writing a memo to the CEO of Apple with your complaint. You might be pleasantly surprised.

Ciao.

For the record, the Apple store I went to is in Miami Beach.

Its ridiculous... For one rubber foot that falls off, which is probably worth 15 cents at most, they want you to pay $40 to replace the entire back plate and they don't cover it under applecare. Now i know why they hire so many people with ridiculous policies like this...********

Someone pointed out the link to a Replacement Program. That seems like a very responsible and proactive move by Apple. Yelling and screaming here, along with using profanities...not acceptable.

I would bring a copy of the Replacement Program to the store. Be insistent. As for how you were treated, I would agree with Ogelthorpe. Email Tim Cook, CEO of Apple, at his public email address. He has carried on Steve Jobs tradition of reading and responding to emails. Do not be rude like harmon, just be professional and honest about your situation. Describe how you were treated, but remember, it is the Holidays, and the Genius people are overwhelmed with people asking "how do I turn on my Mac?"

OrangeMarlin, Greetings; Someplace in back of my memory banks some of the early unibody MBPs had a large rubber pad on the bottom. I suspect that the replacement program applies to them, assuming if I am correct.

None the less it does not negate the fact that the rubber feet are not very well attached. I have had 5 come off my old one (pre-unibody - they were small plastic pieces) and one on my current one. It would be a nice gesture on Apples part if installation were for a nominal sum or less.

Kudos' on you suggestion on how correspond with Tim Cook.

Ciao.

This is what I sent. I'll let you know what happens. Thanks for the input.

Mr. Cook,

I've been a loyal customer for a decade. Recently three of the four plastic/rubber feet fell off of the bottom of my mid-2009 2.8 GHz MBP S/N W89XXXXXXYB. I called the Apple Store I use most often, Aspen Grove in Littleton, CO. I described the problem to a genius. They told me that they would have replacement feet waiting available at the Genius Bar within a week or so at no charge.

I went to the Aspen Grove Store on Wednesday, December 14, to pick up the feet. I met with a young lady named Kacy. She first told me that she would get the feet for me. She then told me that I had to bring my computer in and a genius would install the feet. Then she went in the back for a few minutes, came out and told me that the feet were not available. She said that I needed a whole new bottom piece, but that it would be covered. Kacy went in the back again, came and told me that the bottom wouldn't be covered after all, that my only option was to pay $186 for a new bottom piece.

About that time the business pro, Greg, came up. After hearing the problem he told Kacy that Apple could cover the bottom piece. They then conferred for a few moments, went back in to the back of the store and returned a few minutes later once again reneging on the offer to replace the bottom piece.

I had an appointment, so I voiced my displeasure with Greg and Kacy about being treated like a Yo-yo.

When I had time later in the evening, I called the Aspen Grove store and asked for the store manager. Instead I was directed to a manager on duty (I think), Hailey. I attempted to explained the situation to Hailey, but she continued to interrupt me, characterize Apple employees offers to take care of the problem and then renege on those offers as a "misunderstanding." She was completely intractible and began to take on a tone of taunting me about the situation. Exasperated, I ended the call.

Hoping for a different experience, I went to the Briargate store in Colorado Springs on 12/26. Instead, I received a whole lot of "so what," shoulder shrugging and indifference from the employees there.

Sir, I understand that things wear out and break, but it cannot by Apple's position that the only way to replace three plastic feet that maybe cost 50 cents is by buying a $186 replacement part, can it?

The position and attitude of your employees in this matter is such a sea change from the exemplerary customer service I've previously seen that I'm struggling to understand what's changed at Apple. An ipad 3, iphone 5, new laptops for my wife and I and a desktop workstation are all on the wish list for my growing photography business in 2012, but I'm sure you can understand my new found reticence at purchasing more Apple products if this is the way I will be treated.

Thank you for your time and attention in this matter.

This thread has attracted users of many different Apple computers, and I hope I can clarify your questions sufficiently so that follow-on questions to this thread, to an Apple genius, or to Tim Cook are correct.

The unibody MacBook Pro feet are different from the non-unibody Macbook Pro feet, or the plastic-bodied MacBook feet or bottom pan. The latter may be covered by a warranty program, as posted in this thread. The non-unibody MBP feet are glued on, and are easy to knock off. The unibody MBP feet are not glued on.

Some MBP products (of any vintage) wobble, and replacing the feet will not fix the problem. If your computer "wobbles" and is within the warranty period, it should be returned to Apple for repair.

An acrimonius, threatening, wordy, character-driven narrative is not likely to be effective.

Good luck.

Oh, and one more thing, Jack, I read your letter several times and never once did you broach the subject of what you wanted. That is, what do you want TC to do for you: commisurate, call the people who referred to and give them what-for, or a small plastic bag with a bunch of feet? An effective complaint should end with want you specifically want, rather than a vague threat to buy computer hardware from another vendor. I'm just saying.
