I started filevault at work and need to take my MacBook home, can i close the lid during conversion process ?

I decided to turn on FileVault while i was at work and it is goin to take longer than i will be here. can i close the lid and take it home and let it finish there. Or should i turn of FileVault and restart the process at home where it can sit uninterupted?
