Loss of iPad in Greece while traveling

I lost my newly bought iPad just after 15 days of purchase. I have the last location of my iPad by using MobileMe. Yet, will the police really do anything with it? As I tried to report it when I was in Greece, they just lent me their computer and let me try to locate it. And they didn't even help me file a report. What can I do now?
