Problems Dual booting OS X 10.6.8 and Ubuntu 10.10

Is it possible to dual boot 10.6.8 and Ubuntu 10.10 on Mac Mini? I have already prepared a 40GB partition on the drive for Linux, and have installed reFit.

2 issues I noticed:

1) After shutting down and starting up the computer again with the Ubuntu CD, I don't get the option to boot from the Cd on the reFit screen.

2) The one time that I held down "alt" to bring up boot menu, I selected the CD but it was called "windows"? When I booted from the CD in this case, I got to see the purple screen briefly, then it went blank and into power save mode. The computer continued to load the live cd, but again I couldn't see anything.

Does anyone have any suggestions on this? I really would like to dual boot my mini with OS X and Linux.

Thanks!
