Q: Services won't turn on

4th time reinstalling Lion Server.

For reasons unknown to me, my Lion Server, after a clean install, will not keep settings 'on' after configuration. In some ways, this problems seems indistinguishable from problems using the Server.app itself.

Configured services include (services Web, Mail and iChat have not been configured on turned on)

  • iCal [Cannot Start Service]
  • Address Book [Cannot Start Service]
  • File Sharing [On and working]
  • Podcast [Cannot Start Service]
  • Profile Manager [On but "Error Reading Settings" in Server.app]
  • Time Machine [On and Working]
  • VPN [On and Untested]
  • Web [Cannot Start Service - URL produces a 503 Error]
  • Wiki [Cannot Start Service]

An interesting note: Profile manager has (upon multiple visits) generated what appear to be Ruby errors, as well as the below error page.

Before the last restart, all services noted above were working properly.

Does anyone have any adivce? I really don't want to call AppleCare for a 4th time.

(as a final note, the cause for the restart was the installation of the latest version of Drobo Dashboard)

Mac Mini Server (July 2011), Mac OS X (10.7), OS 10.7 Server PreInstalled.
