Hipstamatic lens/film/flash info in iPhoto '11?

I can create a smart album and match "any text" "contains" a certain Hipstamatic film/lens/flash and iPhoto '11 v.9.1.5 finds all photos taken with i.e. the John S Lens. But the only way to view that information is via File/Reveal in Finder/Original File (for which there is no keyboard short cut), open the photo in Preview, select Tool/Show Inspector and look under More Info/TIFF. All the information is listed there under "Software".

Unfortunately Apple doesn’t give access to the "Software" field of the meta data when creating a smart album so one has to use "any text", which doesn’t seem to allow to create a smart album for "Banko Film" that doen’t also contain all "Blanko Noir Film" photos since one can’t successfully use "does not contain" with the "any text" option nor can one use "Album" "is not" with an other smart album.

So this methode doesn’t bring me the full result.

If I copy the text from the "Software" meta data field to the "Discription" field of iPhoto '11 I can create a smart album for "Blanko Film" that doesn’t contain "Blanko Noir Film" photos. And even more importantly I can then easily see all that information for each photo in iPhoto’s Info pane.

But I can’t find a way to automate that copy process. Automator.app doesn’t seem to offer this feature.

Does anyone have any solution to get this to work in iPhoto? Either get the "Software" meta data information copied into iPhoto’s Description field or any other solution to show the lens/film/flash info from Hipstamatic in iPhoto?

I would seriously love to know this as well. It's kinda hard to believe that Apple is not easily allowing us to see meta data for photos taken on an app built for iPhone?

Making Smart Album for this is incredibly inefficient.

I've read that the data WAS available in iPhoto '09. Don't take features away!

Wow... this question was posted a year ago and still no response?!!! I seriously would like to know the answer to this as well. Not having metadata for Hipstamatic shots defeats the purpose of using Hipstamatic.

I will try to post the question to Hipstamatic as well but so far looking through their forums i been finding incomplete and unanswered inquiries such as this here!!!

So frustrating....! That has to be a simple solve!

Definitely not bad and lightweight and used easily in conjunction with iPhoto. I'll take it! Thanks OT. I had previously used a trial version of an app called Lyn (interested: http://www.lynapp.com/), which will load a whole iPhoto library that you can sort through and check the data. Actually a nice app. I just didn't feel like springing $20 for something I felt like should ALREADY be in iPhoto...and was previously.

Yeah I was looking into Lyn. I posted a similar thread under the Aperture forum as I am an Aperture user. I haven't used iPhoto in over 3 years. I just liked the organizing methods easier in Aperture. Anyway, that's for a different thread.

Lyn looks pretty good and does more than give you metadata. But $20 bucks is $20 bucks nowadays and seems to be overkill for what I needed. Old Toads recommendation and use of freeware EXIF VIEWER does the trick.

However, i still feel Aperture should be able to do this within it's own program!!!

Cheers....
