cannot boot from dvd

I upgraded my OS to Lion from SL and now i intend to go back to SL...

I try to boot my computer d uring startup and when i do the dvd icon won't show up, there only appears the Mac HD icon and the Recovery icon, so i can't boot fro the dvd therefore i can't install SL.

Help Please!
