Word shuts down

My computer started running slowly. A few days later Word started shutting down when I tried to save a file or when I attached a file to an email message. A few months ago I problems when I upgraded to Snow Leopard. I had to take it to the Genius Bar. They wiped it out and reloaded everything, twice. However, my warranty has expired. What is the best action to take to get this cleared up?
