Find My Mac PIN

I tried using the find my mac feature, I used "remote lock" and locked my mac.

I purposely set the Mac to use code 000 000 so I know I wouldn't forget it, but it keeps saying the passcode is incorrect.

When its on the PIN entry screen, I can use Find My Mac again in my iPhone or online to lock it with a new passcode, and the message I set on the lock page will appear on my locked mac, but it doesn't accept the PIN at all...

I've set it to 000000 again and again to ensure but it just doesn't accept it.

I've wiped my hard drive and tried to clean install but the Lion installer checks with the server before installing I guess so it won'r let me, or it's in the Firmware.

It's really confusing and I don't know what to do. AppleCare were stuck and couldn't help me,

Hope someone knows the answer

Same issue here. Used Find My iPhone App to lock my iMac. My kids must have attempted to unlock it because every time I power it on it tell me the Passcode Entered Is Wrong. Try Again in 60 Minutes. After 60 Minutes nothing happens. The PIN boxes never appear. When I try the NVRAM reset I get a lock screen which allows me to get by using the PIN I set when I remote locked it but I just get back to Passcode Entered is Wrong....

Any suggestions other than bringing it to Apple? It's an older iMac but running the latest OSX version. May have even been a beta version from early April 2017.

I really wanted to see this before I have to use it, so I locked my Mac Mini from my MacBook. After the reboot all I saw was a blinking grey folder with a ? mark inside.

Resetting the PRAM didn't work - same blinking folder. So I tried booting off an external firewire disk that I keep around for emergencies and powered up with option key for alternate boot.

Initially, I got the lock password and entered that. The mini continued, but rather than seeing my normal system disk, I saw a disk labeled EFI, the recovery partition, and my external drive and recovery partitions. I selected the EFI as the boot device and continued.

I got another lock screen and entered my same lock code. Everything is now back to normal.

A little scary but a nice feature.
